The music curriculum at Reach Academy is designed to offer all pupils a rich, inclusive, and progressive learning experience. Recognising that many pupils have had limited musical experience, lessons are carefully planned to support a wide range of abilities, from primary to secondary level. Delivered in 9-week blocks, the curriculum purposefully allows time to develop key skills in performance, composition, and listening, in line with the Model Music Curriculum, also reflecting SEND within a cohort where pace of learning is a primary consideration to ensure accessibility across the school.
Pupils explore diverse musical styles, build confidence through solo and group performances, and develop creativity, with added opportunity for reflection and improvement within schemes, helping pupils to evaluate their own work and that of others, deepen their listening skills, and strengthen their musical understanding.
