At Reach Academy we recognise the important of pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and have a wide range of ways for pupils to learn and demonstrate their understanding in these areas.

What it means
What we do
Spiritual means to explore beliefs and experience; respect faiths, feelings and values; enjoy learning about oneself, others and the surrounding world; use imagination and creativity; reflect. 
Visiting places of worship
Exploring different religious beliefs in creative curriculum
Forest school sessions around mindfulness
Moral means to recognise right and wrong; respect the law; understand consequences; investigate moral and ethical issues; offer reasoned views. 
Weekly group discussions during nurture breakfast
Intervention work around consequences
Votes for School used to support debate and discussion around a range of moral issues.
Social means to use a range of social skills; participate in the local community; appreciate diverse viewpoints; participate, volunteer and cooperate; resolve conflict; engage with the ‘British values’ of democracy, the rule of law, liberty, respect and tolerance. 
British Values are taught explicitly in assemblies
Engagement events in school once per half term where pupils make and sell items to visitors to raise money for charity
