PSHE with RSE

PSHE at Reach Academy is a school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and prepare for life and work in modern Britain. Learning revolves around three core themes:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Relationships
  • Living in the Wider World

At Reach Academy, we recognise that students come from a range of different backgrounds and experiences, which means that we adopt a personalised approach to PSHE.  We provide individual analysis of need based on the information received at transition and develop additional interventions to support schemes.

Whilst PSHE topics are planned and scheduled for certain types of the year (linking with key events in the PSHE calendar) it may be necessary to alter the curriculum plan to meet the overall needs of the cohort.  In support of individual students who express a cause for concern around a particular topic, teachers work closely with the Safeguarding team to support children through personalised intervention and appropriate external agency support.
